Samoa
Samoa, 9 tropical islands found in the heart of Pacific Ocean, halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii. Upolu and Savaii, the 2 largest islands, can be easily circumnavigated by road. Apia is the capital city and 40 minutes by road from the airport. The people are friendly, easy going and very religious. There is electricity and running water, which is drinkable in some places, but no wheelchair accessible facilities or taxis. Not many ramps though most buildings and dwellings only have 2 to 3 stairs.

The Seaside Inn was located directly across from the marina on Apia Harbor. It was a well presented backpackers, 3 stairs off the ground with 24 hour staff and breakfast included. Our room was out the back, one stair to get in with an unaccessible bathroom attached. The first day the beds were to low and the staff assisted us to transfer. I told the owner and they had a handyman extend the the legs that day. We bought 3 buckets in town, used 1 for a toilet and 2 to shower outside. For a small sum I employed a boy 'Saint' to assist with manual tasks. Here we got acquainted with Samoa and organized the following week.
