The vehicle I use for my travels is a 1985 Mazda T3500, the ‘SS
Enterprise‘. The modifications were designed by myself, built by
friends and fabricators.

Description:
I started with an old airport shuttle bus and gutted it. Pulled out the
seats, floor, wall lining, everything. This is the time to rust treat
the vehicle, run the electrical wiring and plumbing, reinforce for
wheelchair restraints and furniture, install the water tank, battery box and underfloor storage boxes.
Motor: Mazda SL, 3.5 litre turbo diesel with 10 speed turbo gearbox.
Suspension: Oil truck shocks and extra leafs added to the springs.
Electricity: Bp
Solar, 4 x BP 585, 85 Watt Monocrystalline
panels mounted on Rhino roof racks run through a GCR 3000M 30 Amp
Regulator to 3 heavy
duty deep cycle 200 amp hour truck batteries. For times when I need
additional power I have the
Yamaha generator EF2400is stored in the trailer, two 10 Amp chargers
and the 50 Amp alternator from the bus. The power coming from the
panels is automatically monitored by the regulator. My fridge,
fans and lights are run through the regulator which has a
digital display indicating state of charge, power coming in and load
being used. I charge my wheelchair
and run my respirator using a Dick Smith 800 watt inverter connected
directly to the battery bank. For starting the truck I have 1 x 200 A/H
battery.
Floor: More beams
added for extra strength, covered with 3mm aluminium plate Sikaflexed,
bolted and tech screwed down, covered with 11mm marine ply and
industrial Vinyl. This is a must for this style of bus as they are made
with timber flooring and this strengthens the vehicle making it more
ridged and able to cope with the extra workload.
Furniture: Built in modular with 20mm marine ply attached to aluminium framework.
Water Tank::100 litre stainless steel for drinking water.
