The equipment you can afford and use, will determine your lifestyle and
type of holidays you have. Travel for someone in a wheelchair is
easy, using the appropriate equipment it is possible to have a
comfortable and convenient travel experience.
Equipment
The most important
piece of equipment is my wheelchair. When on the road in Australia, my main
living area is a modified bus, fitted out with solar power.
Behind the bus I tow a heavy duty trailer with all the
equipment I require on board. Portable ramps are constant companions on outings at home and abroard. For holding my camera, note pad,
harmonica etc, I have
a universal bracket attached to my wheelchair.
I source engineering designs and products other travellers are
using, then when back home, begin saving my pennies and modify my equipment
from ideas sourced. I am constantly improving my rig, making life
easier and more enjoyable.
The following equipment and shops I use and recommend: BCF for all
my boating, camping and fishing needs. BP Solar equipment and Yamaha
generators for my electricity. Rhino roof racks to mount my solar panels
on my bus. TJM products for canopies and 4WD
equipment. OneSteel for high quality steel. GTK Rehab for my wheelchairs and disability equipment.
