Activities are the spice of life! Whether going for a surf,
creating art, watching a movie or taking a scenic flight, they are what make life fun. After a serious injury,
it takes time to accept that you won’t be able to
do the things you used to or at the same level. The duration and severity of
this grieving period is different for everyone and some people never get over
it. Most people are in wheelchairs because they like doing crazy things, the
hard part is finding activities that are going to give you that adrenaline rush
again. About six months after my accident, I made a conscious decission not to
dwell on the past. I would only concentrate on what I could do. Not
every activity will give you a rush, but even hobbies will keep you active and
give you pleasure. The pages I am attaching to this section, are to demonstrate
that with determination, even someone with a severe disability can
still live a reasonably active life.
I would like to encourage businesses to make an effort and include
people with a disability. Sure, it’s not as profitable and it can be more
effort including people with a disability, but ‘hey’, good public relations goes
a long way.
